Religious Indifference?

With the end of the Moslem Hajj aproaching, and all the coverage given to the horrible accidents that have cost the lives of over 300 people, I'm wondering why apparently no one in the Moslem world has taken this as an opportunity to decry the terrorist attacks in Iraq that are killing hundreds of innocent people .

Where's the outrage of the Moslem world against this twisting of their religious values? Some has been reported, but most of what we see in the press makes the it look like they don't care. The terrorist actions in Iraq are Moslems killing Moslems. Sunnis killing Shia. According to Islam, is this wrong? I've heard people say yes, but I've also read this in the Koran:

  • 2.190 And fight in the way of Allah with those who fight with you, and do not exceed the limits, surely Allah does not love those who exceed the limits.
  • 2.191 And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers.
  • 3.169 And reckon not those who are killed in Allah's way as dead; nay, they are alive (and) are provided sustenance from their Lord;

Apparently, these verses only apply to unbelievers, because the Koran also says this:

  • 4.92 And it does not behoove a believer to kill a believer except by mistake, and whoever kills a believer by mistake, he should free a believing slave, and blood-money should be paid to his people unless they remit it as alms; but if he be from a tribe hostile to you and he is a believer, the freeing of a believing slave (suffices), and if he is from a tribe between whom and you there is a convenant, the blood-money should be paid to his people along with the freeing of a believing slave; but he who cannot find (a slave) should fast for two months successively: a penance from Allah, and Allah is Knowing, Wise.
  • 4.93 And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his punishment is hell; he shall abide in it, and Allah will send His wrath on him and curse him and prepare for him a painful chastisement

Admittedly, this is just a cold reading of the text, and I'm certainly no Islamic scholar, but it really seems like their teachings are that it's OK to kill "infidels." And apparently anyone who disagrees with your opinion is an infidel, so it's OK to kill them, too. I just don't understand.
